MeetMeHalfway is built on a simple promise: your location and personal data are used only to help you and your friends find great places to meet up — nothing more.

1. Who We Are

MeetMeHalfway is a mobile application developed by Joshua Church ("we," "us," or "our"). We help groups of friends find the perfect halfway meeting point and plan outings together. You can reach us at joshuachurch0525@gmail.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what's necessary to make the app work:

Account information — your name, email address, username, and profile photo when you create an account.
Location data — your device's current location, used only when you're actively using the Halfway feature to find a midpoint. We do not track your location in the background.
Content you create — posts, photos, chat messages, and trip plans you share within the app.
Usage data — basic app usage information to help us fix bugs and improve the experience.

3. How We Use Your Information

To calculate a geographic midpoint between you and your friends
To find nearby venues, restaurants, and activities around that midpoint
To power the in-app chat and social feed features
To generate AI-powered trip itineraries and date night suggestions
To send you push notifications about activity in your chats and feed
To maintain your account and friends list

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

4. Location Data

Location is the core of what MeetMeHalfway does. Here's exactly how we handle it:

Location is only accessed when you tap "Find Halfway Point" or use a location-based feature
We do not track your location in the background
Your location is used in real-time to calculate midpoints and is not stored permanently
You can revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings

5. AI Features

MeetMeHalfway uses Claude (by Anthropic) to power AI trip planning and date night suggestions. When you use these features:

Your search query and group preferences are sent to Anthropic's API to generate suggestions
No personally identifiable information is included in these requests
Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data processed by their API: anthropic.com/privacy

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to power the app:

Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, and file storage. Firebase Privacy Policy

7. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase, which is hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. We implement security rules to ensure users can only access their own data. All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.

8. Children's Privacy

MeetMeHalfway is not intended for users under the age of 18. We require age verification during account creation and do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Withdraw consent for location access at any time via device settings

10. Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, posts, messages, and all associated data from our servers within 30 days.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
